As they are unable to lie, hustle and steal, Diskoteket will never be rich and famous, but they have carved out a niche of their own with their blend of new wave-post punk-goth-rock music. Signified by every element of the music somehow refusing to stay within their assigned boxes: hard as nails-drums, epic Roland-synthesizers and guitar funk and Diskoteket’s singer A-K who opens her mouth to rewrite all of history and give every emotion a new name.

Throughout their 20+ years, Diskoteket has played extensively throughout Sweden, and released a total of four albums. The eclectic selection of sounds and subject matter on Lust och tomhet (Aloaded, 2019) is representative of the latest stage of the band’s development. Their process of open-ended experimentation and an embrace of a computerized workflow has resulted in some weird hybrid strains of danceable darkness.
