With international guests, genre-crossing expressions, and a warm sense of togetherness, Plan B, Inkonst and Malmö Live will be filled with bandleaders, soloists and inspiring conversations - a vibrant, inclusive, and recurring platform for jazz in all its forms.
Behind Malmö Jazz Story is artistic director Andreas Romano alongside producer Viktor Andersson and artist Miriam Aïda.
THE SORCERERS (UK)
The Sorcerers are a Leeds-based instrumental outfit channeling the golden age of Ethio-jazz through a cinematic, groove-driven lens. Inspired by the hypnotic sounds of Addis Ababa’s 1960s and 70s jazz underground, the band fuse layered melodies, swirling textures and deep rhythmic interplay into a sound that feels timeless yet unmistakably contemporary. Described as one of the most innovative groups in Ethio-jazz today, and heralded by Mulatu Astatke himself, The Sorcerers have steadily built a reputation as one of the UK’s leading exponents of the genre.
Their releases have been praised internationally for balancing authenticity with experimentation. Blending intricate arrangements with raw rhythmic energy, The Sorcerers’ live performances expand on their studio recordings - stretching grooves, building intensity, and immersing audiences in a transportive, cinematic atmosphere.
